"Let go of me, you bastard!"

"I'm afraid I can't do that sweetie. You're about to murder my little brother," Jason replied. Holding me very calmly around the waist, he was careful not to inflict too much pressure around my stomach.

"I'm doing more than that, I'm burying the cunt!"

I heard Kit roar as he glared over at me. Lilly then stood in front of me protectively.

"What the fuck is wrong with her?" he demanded, trying to look around her at me.

Kit was holding his face in his palm, I'd just full-on punched him and my hand hurt so badly I held onto it and crunched my face in pain. Jason lowered me to the floor, asking me if I was okay.

"You piece of fucking..." I swore I'd kill Kit and tried smacking him again.

It would need to be the other cheek though because he was still holding his left cheek like a baby. Some fucking boxer, I thought as Jason, Kit's older brother lifted me into the air again.

"Don't look surprised, Kit, it's obvious why she's just punched you. And rightly so. My fist is twitching just seeing your face, player." Lilly said, clenching her fist to her side.

"Put me down!" I yelled once more at Jason holding me back, and as he did all of his brothers stood on standby.

"Are all of you like this? Just a set of unloyal bastards?” Lilly asked whilst searching each of their faces.

Each of the brothers looked as equally confused, but that comment set off all of their faces like thunder.

"Lilly, don't make this about us," Nick then said to her and I saw the hurt coating Lilly's face and wondered what the hell that remark had meant.

We had both agreed not to talk about her and Nick, and the not knowing was killing me. Perhaps her not knowing the real deal between me and Kit was destroying her too.

"Eve, you best tell me what the fuck that was for, and now," Kit glared at me.

The last few months with Kit Carson had been the most fucked up, mental months of my life. That was saying a lot, since only just over a year ago my parents, brother and I had been kidnapped. They were murdered that night, right in front of me. Unaware of why it had happened, I'd spent the last year warding off unwanted visitors into my life. Then this guy, Kit fucking Carson, came into my life and unraveled everything. Everything I swore was set in stone. That being that I wouldn't let anyone in, that I wouldn't allow anyone new into my life that I could potentially lose. Now, I stood before him pregnant with our baby, with so much hurt surrounding my chest that I feared I may be sick as it mixed with pure hatred. He'd broken my fucking heart, again.

"Get out of the way," Kit told Lilly as he came towards me, but she stood like a wall concreted into the floor.

I wasn't expecting Kit to glare down at her. She was nothing compared to his size but she still stood with her arms pinned to her sides, her fists ready to batter him in the face.

"Get out of my way," Kit spoke through gritted teeth.

"Don't you dare speak to her like that!" I said whilst gently moving Lilly to a side so that I could face up to him.

Shaking his head in disbelief Kit looked around, we were still in the front garden of his house and despite it being the weekend there weren’t many passers-by to see our confrontation. To my shock, he took my hand and his brothers moved out of the way so he could pull me inside.

  "Eve?" Lilly called after me.

"She'll be fine," I heard Jax say as each of them followed us into the house.

Kit was attempting to take me upstairs but I was having none of it. No way was I going there with him. I saw the look on his face and dared him to push me further, he was lucky I was even allowing this at all. But I deserved answers, and now.

Kit cursed under his breath and then pulled me with him through a side door leading to the other side of the house. He closed the door before leading me through another door to the game room. Inside a huge pool table sat in the center, and beanbags were positioned before a huge TV that occupied numerous consoles. Around the edges of the room amusement style game stands had been placed against the walls. I'd been in this room before but only briefly. It was probably the second most used room in the house. The first being the gym. These brothers were constantly in the gym, so much so that they had converted a whole room into their private gym.

"Right, let's sort this the fuck out now," Kit said after locking the door.

I wondered why a room like this even had a lock.

"Why have you locked the door?" I asked.

"Because I don't want anyone disturbing us, definitely not your crazy friend."

I glared at him. How dare he call Lilly that, only because she'd caught him in the act.

"Plus, neither of us is leaving this room until this has been sorted."

"I deserve an explanation from you, that's it."

He stared at me from where he stood by the door, and silence kept him there until his piercing eyes got the better of me.

"Why would you do this to me?"

My voice broke and I held my hand to my throat, trying not to cry. When Kit made a move to comfort me I held my hand out to stop him.

"Don't touch me," I said through gritted teeth.

It had hurt him, I could see that. But was it real? Was anything with Kit real?

"I'm not cheating on you, Eves," he said then.

"Don't lie to me. Lilly saw you! You were snogging the same bird me and Niomi saw you kissing that day at the gym."

Kit rolled his eyes and it pissed me off more.

"I'm sorry, is this all a bit too much for you, Kit? That's what happens when you cheat on your girlfriend!"

"I'm not cheating on you!" Kit moved fast, and he was suddenly in my face and daring me with his eyes to say it again.

Without me even realising, he'd brought his hand close to my stomach and his finger brushed against my belly.

"Why would I cheat on you? I have everything I want right here," he said, looking me in the eyes.

"Stop it," I said quickly, snapping out of his gaze.

  "Stop what?"

"Stop looking at me as if I'm your reason for breathing."

  "But you are!
"

"It's bullshit!" I cut him off, trying my hardest not to cry.

I was doing incredibly well considering I was a walking hormone these days.

"Whatever she thinks she saw isn't real."

"What the hell does that mean?"

"It means, I'm doing what has to be done. And I'm not cheating on you."

"I swear to god, you best start making sense or I'm leaving."

Kit shook his head, placing his hand to his forehead.

"I can't tell you more than that," he said, defeated.

  "What?"

Then it hit me, it hit me like a wet slap to my forehead.

  "It's Delta, isn't it?"

Kit looked at me and just nodded, looking serious.

"Delta is having you cheat on me?"

"God no," he shook his head.

Then as he was about to speak, he stopped. Then he tried again and stopped.

"I'm your partner Kit, you should be able to tell me."

I knew it hurt him that he couldn't tell me, and I knew he wanted to.

How had I not seen this coming? How had this brewed without me noticing signs?

Surely something was going down at Delta. It still didn't explain to me why Kit had been kissing another girl, and I needed to know why. Without that, all I was left with was the knowledge that he was cheating on me. With nothing to override it.

"I'm not cheating on you, Eve. I can't tell you anything else just now, please, you've gotta just trust me.".

"All those years my dad ran Delta without my knowledge, the one thing I am sure of is that nothing he ever did there put his relationship in jeopardy."

"Your dad had a different role to me, I do what I'm good at, and so did he."

"And you're good at women?" I said quickly.

  Closing his eyes, Kit sighed.

"Eve, don't,'' he said before moving closer.

"Look, for whatever reason, you just gotta trust me."

"Will you have to continue doing whatever it is you're doing with other women?"

God, what if there was more than one?

Kit didn't answer me, instead, I saw him thinking hard on what to say.

"I can't tell you more than what I have, Eves. Soon it will all become clear, I promise."

"So, you expect me to just trust you?"

"I love you, you know that. You must know that whatever I'm doing, I'm doing it because I have no choice".

There was always a choice. Kit didn't have to cheat on me, I didn't believe it for a second. Surely, there was someone else at Delta that could do his job now that he had a girlfriend. Then it lingered on my mind, what if Kit's job did mean more to him than me? More than our baby?

With that thought, I held my stomach and shifted away from the pool table and away from him.

He must have seen the look on my face because he shook his head.

"No," he said, "you're not doing this."

"You can't expect me to be okay with this? I'm never going to be comfortable with you keeping things from me. I will never accept you cheating on me, no matter if you say it's real or not."

"Eves," Kit took steps towards me again but I told him to stop.

The last thing I wanted was for him to be close to me right now, especially because I knew him touching me would result in me breaking down in a launch of tears.

"I need to go," I said, honestly.

"No, I'm not gonna let you push me away again. You're pregnant with my kid, Eves. You can't just run away from me."

"Don't tell me what I'm not allowed to do. Being in a relationship means you're not allowed to cheat and keep secrets, and you're doing both!"

My heart had shattered even more at the words and as much as I tried not to, I began crying.

As I turned and began unlocking the door, I jumped when his hands pushed firmly against the door. Meaning I couldn't open it. I looked as his arms flexed, caging me here. His face came directly into my neck where my hair laid and he put his arm around me, making my body cave-in at his touch.

"Don't leave me, please. You'll understand, I promise," he begged against my neck.

"You need to let go of me," I cried and pushed back against him as I opened the door.

He didn't stop me but followed after me as I walked back through the house where I found all of Kit's brothers and Lilly sitting in the living room as if they were waiting for the verdict of a reality TV show. I tried to compose myself the best I could but the second Lilly had seen my face, she looked as if she was about to cry. Instead, her face turned a dark red as anger settled over her body and she stood up. She had eyes set on Kit who stood behind me, but she didn't get the chance to meet him. Nick had already stood up and he held his arms around her so she couldn't charge at him.

"You fucking arsehole, do you have any idea what she's been through? How could you do this to her?!"

"Lilly, stop! You've caused enough trouble!" Nick shouted at her from behind.

I glared at Nick then, my feelings towards him drastically changing in that second.

"You all know, don't you?" I asked, looking at each of their faces.

They all looked like a set of puppies, sorry for what they'd done.

"Eve, we-" Jax started but I quickly shut him down.

"What hurts the most is that I saw all of you as my family. Even you, Jason."

As I looked at him my voice broke again.

"You've all deceived me, knowing full well what he's been doing behind my back."

"No, Eves, it's not like that, we can't- "

"Jax," Kit stopped him and I turned around to see him standing there, watching everything from behind me.

I took my chance to leave and as I headed down the hallway I heard Jax speaking to Kit, telling him I needed time to calm down. I was thankful for it because at that moment Kit didn't follow me.

"Eves," I heard Lilly say after me as I rushed down The Beck and back to her car.

She took my hand and rushed away with me, holding my hand tightly. Once we were in her car, I wiped away my tears, only for more to drench my face within seconds. We didn't speak as Lilly started driving, and I was thankful for it. I couldn't bring myself to speak and just as she pulled away, I saw Kit running up to the curb that we'd just reversed away from. His eyes locked directly with mine and I had to look away.

"Tell me again, tell me everything you saw."

"Eves, I really don't see how this is gonna help. You're just torturing yourself."

We'd just pulled into her driveway. I was searching for anything; anything that would make it not true. Anything that would make Kit, not a cheater. Pulling down the sun visor I checked my face and rolled my eyes. Lilly's parents were home after their latest job reporting in Asia, and I didn't want them to see me like this. Practically as Lilly's parents landed we were waving goodbye to my grandparents. After a year and a half of mourning, I'd persuaded them to take a holiday. They'd spoken about it for months, planning little bits as a distraction, I think. They not only needed it but deserved it desperately. I was so happy when they'd told me that they were heading off somewhere hot and sunny to enjoy a long holiday. They asked me to come too, but like a lovesick puppy, I declined their offer and decided to stay here with Kit. Besides, it was hardly a wise thing to do after everything that had happened. Part of me wished I'd gone with them now.

"Here," Lilly directed me to look at her so she could fix up my face.

We both sat there a little while longer, allowing the puffiness to settle some more before going inside.

"Look who it is!" Lilly's dad, and number one prankster, approached us and grinned at me.

I loved Lilly's parents as if they were my own, and they had always welcomed me with open arms.

"Good to be home?" I asked him, and he nodded while looking me over and chewing at his face.

"Is, er, everything okay?" he asked, looking from me to Lilly and then back again.

  No, everything was not okay.

I felt as if my hea
rt was falling into my stomach and at the same time, I felt ravenous. Truth be told, even heartbreak couldn't stop my pregnancy appetite. I'd been so hungry recently, and I'd been gaining weight too. I glanced at Lilly and we both nodded, which meant Lilly's dad nodded.

Then Lilly nodded again, trying to act cool. By that point, we looked like a set of head-bobbing dogs standing in the hallway.

"So," Lilly broke the awkwardness before her dad could ask any more questions. "We're gonna go upstairs."

Again, her dad nodded. No way was he buying our bullshit and he watched as we both scooted up the stairs in haste.

"Oh, your mum is cooking pasta for tea. I'll get her to make some for you too, Eves."

I smiled back down at him and thanked him.

"They obviously don't know you're pregnant yet, you don't have to tell them if you're not ready," Lilly said after shutting her bedroom door.

I shook my head. "They deserve to know, it wouldn't feel right keeping it from them. Besides, I'm getting a little bump, don't you think?"

I lifted my top and lowered my jeans slightly for Lilly to see my stomach. It made her smile, because I did indeed have a tiny bump forming. To everyone else, I'd just look like I'd gained weight. I was thirteen weeks pregnant and as I caressed my stomach, I felt so unsure about our future. Lilly interrupted my thoughts, coming to me with something totally crazy.

"You know what you need?" Lilly asked randomly, so randomly that I stared at her with my mouth slightly agape.

"A party, we need a party."

I narrowed my eyes at her. "In case you have forgotten, I'm pregnant. Hardly the place to be when you're pregnant, is it? Plus, I just broke up with my boyfriend."

"You're pregnant, Eves. That doesn't mean you have to suddenly become a prisoner and not have fun. I know, and that's exactly why you need the distraction."
